Assumptions and pay data
- Alerts are sent a handful of times a year, tied to real events — never on a fixed weekly schedule.
- Every alert covers UK pay, tax or thresholds; nothing else is ever sent to this list.
- Subscription uses double opt-in: you confirm via the link in the first email before anything else is sent.
About the pay-rise alerts
What the alerts cover
Each alert is triggered by something real changing. The April email walks through the new tax year's thresholds and rates with a worked example — for 2027, that means the 2 percentage point rise on savings and property income tax to 22%, 42% and 47%, which is already legislated. The armed forces email covers the AFPRB pay award the week it lands, with the new pay scales translated into take-home for typical ranks.
Through the year there are alerts for the events private-sector workers actually ask about: the HGV driver pay reports when fresh salary data appears, student loan threshold changes (the Plan 2 freeze runs to April 2030), and any Budget or fiscal event that moves the numbers on the calculators. When a new calculator launches — the armed forces interactive tool, the agency-versus-employed comparison — subscribers hear first.
What you will never get: generic money tips, product pitches, or “content” written to fill a schedule. If nothing changed, nothing is sent. The list exists for the handful of moments a year when the numbers move.
- April tax-year changes, with worked examples on typical salaries.
- The AFPRB armed forces pay award, translated into take-home pay.
- HGV and private-sector pay report updates when fresh data lands.
- Student loan threshold changes and new calculator launches.
How often you will hear from us
Expect between four and eight emails a year. The April tax-year email is the one guaranteed annual send; the rest depend on events. A year with a Budget, an AFPRB award and a threshold change might bring six or seven. A quiet year brings four. There is no weekly cadence to keep up and no monthly roundup to skim — the list is deliberately event-driven.
This matters because inbox fatigue is how people miss the email that actually affects their pay. A list that emails weekly trains you to ignore it; a list that emails only when the numbers move trains you to open it. Every alert is written to earn the next open: one change, the numbers, what it means, done.
Double opt-in: why we ask you to confirm
When you enter your email, you will first receive a confirmation email with a link. Nothing else is sent until you click it. This is called double opt-in, and it exists for your protection: it proves the address is yours, it stops anyone subscribing you without your knowledge, and it keeps the list clean of typos and fake addresses.
If the confirmation email does not arrive within a few minutes, check your spam folder — automated mail lands there more often than anyone would like. The confirmation link stays valid long enough for you to find it. If you never click, you are never subscribed, and your address is discarded.
Your privacy, in plain English
Your email address is used for one thing: sending you the alerts. It is not sold, not shared with advertisers, not handed to partners, and not added to any other list. The only data held is your address, your signup date, and whether you confirmed — the minimum needed to run a mailing list lawfully.
Every alert carries an unsubscribe link that works immediately, no login required. Unsubscribing deletes your address from the active list. The list operates under UK GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations: consent-based, with a clear way out in every email. If you ever want to know what data is held about you, reply to any alert and ask — a human reads those replies.
- One list, one purpose: the pay-rise alerts. Nothing else.
- No sale, no sharing, no partner offers — ever.
- Unsubscribe link in every email; works immediately.
- Your address is deleted from the active list when you leave.
Who the alerts are for
The alerts are written for UK private-sector employees — the same people these calculators serve. HGV drivers watching for the next pay report and the April tax changes. Armed forces personnel waiting on the AFPRB award. Shift workers on nights and overtime whose unsocial-hours pay interacts with frozen thresholds. Graduates tracking the Plan 2 freeze to 2030.
If you are self-employed or a company director, the alerts still cover the thresholds and rates that touch your finances, but the worked examples assume PAYE employment. And if you only want the calculators without the emails, that is fine too — everything here is free and nothing is gated behind signup.
About this page
What happens after you subscribe
Enter your email in the signup box and the confirmation email follows within minutes. Click the link, and you are on the list — the next alert arrives when the next event happens. The April tax-year email is the next guaranteed send; between now and then, you will hear from the list only if something changes.
The list is run by the same small team that maintains the calculators. Replies are read by a person, the numbers in each alert are checked against the same verified tax model that powers the site, and the unsubscribe link is honoured the moment you click it.
Pay-rise alert questions
How often will you email me?
A handful of times a year — typically four to eight emails, driven by events rather than a schedule. The April tax-year email is the one guaranteed annual send. There is deliberately no weekly or monthly cadence: if nothing changed, nothing is sent.
Is it free?
Yes, completely. The alerts, the calculators and the guides are all free, and nothing on the site is gated behind signup. There are no paid tiers and no upsells in the emails.
What is double opt-in?
It means you confirm your subscription by clicking a link in the first email we send you. Until you click, nothing else is sent and your address is not added to the list. It proves the address is yours and stops anyone subscribing you without your knowledge.
Can I unsubscribe?
Any time, from any alert, with one click — no login, no survey, no retention flow. The link is in every email and works immediately; your address is then removed from the active list.
Do you share my email with anyone?
No. Your address is used only to send the alerts. It is never sold, never shared with advertisers or partners, and never added to another list. The only data held is your address, signup date and confirmation status.
